AKKI-CHAN is a slow resort brand that upcycles vintage 100% silk kimono into golden, one-of-a-kind Aloha shirts. Inspired by Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing with gold—we honor history by transforming garments rich in character into pieces meant to be worn while chasing the sun.

We travel across Japan to handpick exceptional vintage kimono, each selected for its craftsmanship, soul, and story. Every kimono is carefully deconstructed, cleaned, pressed, and thoughtfully patterned before being cut, sewn, and finished into a single Aloha shirt. The process is slow and intentional—only one shirt can be made from each kimono, ensuring no two pieces are ever alike.

The Aloha shirt itself traces back to 1930s Hawai‘i, where Japanese immigrants repurposed kimono fabric to create casual shirts—blending heritage with a new sense of home. AKKI-CHAN is a return to those roots, celebrating cultural exchange, Japanese craftsmanship, and the spirit of resort living.
